Bob Gordon


In 2009, Bob Gordon retired after 20 years as Executive Director of Staff Resources and Technical Services for Sweetwater County, with responsibilities for Human Resources, Planning, Zoning, and Engineering/Surveying/Mapping. During his tenure, Bob also developed and implemented the Human Resources and Central Purchasing Departments, as well as the County Compensation Plan, while also overseeing the completion of the County’s GIS mapping project and development of the County GIS function.

Prior to his service with the County, Bob spent 15 years in Industrial Relations Management, specializing in Human Resources Management, as well as Public and Governmental Affairs for Stauffer Chemical Mine and Refinery (now Ciner) and subsequently with Champlin Petroleum Company.

During his career, Bob served 10 years as a Western Wyoming College Trustee/Officer, and as an officer and/or member of numerous local, and state government executive boards and industrial operating committees including the Overthrust Industrial Association, Southwest Wyoming Industrial Association, the Lincoln-Uinta County Association of Governments, the Wyoming Private Industry Council, Sweetwater Economic Development Association, Wyoming Economic Development Association. Bob was also involved with the inception and early development of a number of major community initiatives, such as United Way of Sweetwater County, STAR Transit, etc.

Bob is a native of Green River and earned a B.A. with honors from the University of Wyoming, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He lists music, photography, and “Jeeping” as his recreational interests.
